Silicagel
Silica gel is an amorphous silicate, a hard and translucent material, consisting of granules with a diameter between 1 and 12 mm, in which there is a very large number of microscopic pores. When controlling humidity, silica gel acts like a small sponge, which at a temperature of 24º C and relative humidity of 20%, can absorb 35% of its weight in water. Unlike a sponge, however, it remains dry even at maximum capacity. The higher the relative humidity, the more water it absorbs, and in addition, the amount of water absorbed increases with the longer the period of time.
